Never Alone

"Rejected at the inn, holy God comes in small to where you feel rejected and small. God is with you now. Wherever you are--in a soundless cry or hidden brokenness or in your ache--God always wants to be with you. You are not ever left alone in this. We are never left alone in this; God is with us." Ann Voskamp, The Greatest Gift

So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:6-7 NKJV

This is it...Christmas Eve. "The days were completed." Advent has unfolded once again in all its quiet holiness. And we are once again absorbing the truth that we will never again be alone. No matter what we face, or what we will face in our tomorrows, we will have Emmanuel - GOD WITH US! There is nothing can rip us from his hand. I believe that if we could hold Him this very minute - this tiny infant so helpless and vulnerable - we would be able to feel Him holding us in our helplessness and vulnerability. We would feel God holding us while we held God. What a wonder!

Take a Walk Today

Take just five minutes to go for a walk today. Imagine yourself holding the newborn Savior. Feel the warmth of His skin, smell His hair, and hold Him close to your chest. Then try to feel Him holding you in the same way. He is your protection in this harsh world, your nurturing comfort, and the one who will never leave you alone. Tuck that in your Christmas stocking before you go to bed tonight.
